Security First

Non-exhaustive list

What you need to know about security is that in 90%, it's a human error. It's easier to hack a person than a protocol or a wallet directly. So, be vigilant and assume that the best security is yourself!!

Private Key Storage: Private keys are crucial for accessing your funds. Make sure to store them securely, offline. Never write down a seed on your computer or phone. The only two secure methods are paper writing and metal engraving. Write them down in multiple copies and take care to store/hide them. Phishing: Be aware of phishing attacks aimed at tricking you into disclosing your sensitive information. Always check the URL of the website you're visiting and ensure it's a legitimate source. Create a favorites folder Ordinals and add all the links you use frequently. By searching directly through your browser, you run the risk of clicking on, for example, a fake Magic Eden website sponsored to appear first in searches, and connecting to a fraudulent site. Fraudulent Signatures: If I ask you to sign a paper that gives me access to all your bank funds and allows me to use them as I please, you wouldn't sign it, would you? In crypto, it's the same; if you sign a fraudulent authorization, you could be granting permission to empty your wallet. The difference is that it's a button to click instead of reading a contract and doing it manually! So, be vigilant about where you connect your wallets and what you approve! Wallet Scams: Thinking of downloading an app or installing a wallet? Fake wallets are offered on mobile app stores and websites to steal users' private keys. Always be sure you're on official and legitimate links.

Beware of Scams: Be aware of common scams like fraudulent offers, fake wallet websites, or fake airdrops. Never share your private information with unverified sources. Close your DMs on Discord, and don't click on links sent to you.

Top 5 security advices:

  1. Get a new Ledger specifically for Ordinals

  2. Use a new Chrome profile only for Ledger/Xverse

  3. Link your Ledger to Matrica/Bitcheck first

  4. Transfer your asset

  5. Keep your seed phrase safe offline

Bonus: Use a burner wallet for new mints and avoid to connect with unverified websites. If you have ANY doubt, DON'T interact.
